Essential Cleaning Supplies
- These first three items are cleaning products I use all over my apartment! I especially love the Seventh Generation disinfecting spray and the Aunt Fannies vinegar cleaning wipes for wiping down our kitchen counters, my office desk, and our dining and coffee tables! All of these cleaning supplies smell great and are on the more natural side so you don’t have to worry about your pets or kids being around them!
- Bleach is a given for essential cleaning products. One unexpected use that it’s amazing for is in your mopping water! Put a tiny splash in when you mop your floors and it will kill all the germs! Bleach is also perfect for keeping whites white.
- A good glass cleaner is a must-have and Meyers is a great brand that is less toxic and smells amazing! Use this on your windows, cooktop, refrigerator, and more!
- Last but not least, everyone wants a sparkling clean toilet, but nobody likes the terrible harsh smell of traditional toilet cleaners! This option above from better life works just as well without the headache-inducing smell!
- These three cleaning supplies are absolutely essential! These cleaning powders are my go-tos for laundry and stain removing. Did you know that OxiClean can be used for more than just laundry?? YES! I mix a tablespoon of OxiClean with a small splash of bleach in my mop bucket and use that solution to mop my floors.
- If you are looking for a natural laundry detergent, Molly’s Suds is an absolute must. It works amazing and is great for sensitive skin! You don’t have to worry about any toxins or fragrances with Molly’s Suds!
- Bar Keepers Friend is a cleaning product my mom used growing up and it works wonders on cleaning sinks, tubs, and pots and pans. It takes the black marks right out of porcelain tubs and sinks – just be sure to rinse thoroughly!
Cleaning Tools
- Now that you have all of your cleaning products, you need the right cleaning tools to extend the power of the cleaning products! First and foremost is that everyone needs a great mop. This mop from O-Cedar is the absolute best with thousands and thousands of amazing reviews! It has a special spin mechanism that cleans and wrings out the mop head for you so you never have to touch the water! It is fantastic!
- Solid cleaning cloths are a must, and towels that you can use all around your apartment are essential! Microfiber is super absorbent, gets out stains and messes super well because of al the tiny fibers, and they wash great in the laundry! You can use microfiber cloths for everything from cleaning glass to washing dishes.
- If you haven’t already heard of Scrub Daddy, you have now, and you absolutely need one. They are the best kitchen sponge on the market and they don’t fall apart or hold too much water like traditional sponges! They dry out and re-harden between each use and are so easy to clean and disinfect between uses.
- If you don’t like cleaning because you get your hands wet or touch chemicals, then a good pair of cleaning gloves will literally change your life! Plus you want to protect your skin from absorbing any cleaning solution that can be harmful. These gloves are amazing for cleaning your apartment, doing dishes, cleaning out your car, or even washing your pets!
- For the messes that the microfiber cloths can’t handle, these scrub brushes will do the trick. They are ideal for gunk on your floors, bathroom tile, or even cleaning dirty window sills! The handles give you extra leverage and they are just the right size.
- Last but not least, these drain snakes will literally change your life – not being dramatic. If you have long hair or live with someone who has long hair, cleaning your drains can be a dirty, smelly, gross job. All you have to do is stick one of these down the drain and it will pull up all the hair that is clogging the drain. You no longer have to become a plumber and take apart your sinks! Voila!
