We all know that a room with bare walls feels blank and stark. Art on the walls does wonders, but between frames, properly hanging the art, and the art itself, it adds up quickly! Before you know it, you’ve spend hundreds of dollars on just a couple of pieces. Some people love to completely DIY art from scratch, but I am more of a semi-homemade girl. When I discovered that I could semi DIY wall art prints using printable art, I was so excited!
In this post, I will show you exactly how I find amazing wall art prints, where I get the digital downloads printed, and where I love to find frames.

How I DIY Wall Art Prints
I love wall art, but I don’t love the price tag. Even buying wall decor at stores like Homegoods and Target can add up fast, and you don’t have the benefit of customization. Enter digital download art!!
If you’ve never heard of digital download art, essentially you pay for and download digital art files, and then send them to a printer and frame and hang the prints yourself. There are a couple of extra steps in this method compared to buying pre-framed art, but it will save you hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of dollars!
In this section, I am going to break down where I find digital download art, where I get art printed, and my favorite print shop! I prefer to find digital download art prints on Etsy. I love Etsy because there are literally thousands of different pieces of artwork to choose from different shops, and I am supporting small business owners. You can also find digital download art completely free from museums or different archives, however, the quality of those prints tends to be pretty poor and I have generally avoided them because I don’t want the art to print pixilated.
Digital download art on Etsy can range from a couple of dollars up to $100+ dollars depending on if the piece is custom or one-of-a-kind. All of the art I have categorized and linked below is in the $3-$5ish dollar range.
After I find and download the art that I like, my favorite place to print the art is at Costco! (NOTE: Each Etsy shop will have specific and unique directions for downloading the files from Etsy, so pay special attention to those.) Yes, Costco! If you are a member, it is so so easy to order the prints online and they will come straight to your mailbox. Plus, it is super cheap and great quality! I got a huge 16×20 print for only $11!
Once I have the wall art prints, I frame them. My favorite places to find frames are Amazon, Target, and Homegoods. I usually opt for simple gold or natural wood frames that compliment the art prints that I have.
And that is the whole process! You can do everything from finding the art to buying the frames to the comfort of your home! The most recent print I ordered cost me around $25 in total, and my sister told me she thought I bought it from a boutique for $100+!!! Not to mention this print was huge….16×20! Smaller prints and frames could be as inexpensive as $10-$15 total!

Black and white art really never goes out of style! These pieces might be simple, but they are all so gorgeous and feel unique and curated. I love that they look hand drawn and like you paid hundreds of dollars at an antique store! I would pair each of these prints with gold or natural wood frames, and they would be perfect as stand-alone pieces OR as a gallery wall set.

To find quotes on Etsy you can either search the exact quote you have in mind or search your favorite author! The quotes I have above are short and simple and some of my favorite daily reminders. #5 and #9 are shops where you can submit your custom quote and have it stylized! Printable wall art quotes would also make a fantastic gift!

Baby nurseries are the sweetest rooms and deserve the best wall art! Etsy has nursery art for every theme you could think of, and my favorite pieces from above are #2, #4, and #5. They are sweet, simple, and timeless! They would be so adorable on the wall of a baby nursery!

My favorite place in the bedroom to hang wall art is above the headboard! I would get a large version of a print to create a DIY large wall art piece! As a general rule, larger decor and furniture looks more luxurious, so be sure to order larger prints when decorating your bedroom. I love how simple and cozy all of the prints I selected above are! The goal of your bedroom should be to feel relaxed and cozy, and all of the prints above surely accomplish that!! These picks are proof that cheap wall art doesn’t have to LOOK cheap or be boring!

I love doing art series in my living room by doing groupings of prints that create a visual story! This adds so much interest to your living room and will make your space feel custom and personalized to you! I chose pieces that are neutral yet interesting, and I love landscape scenes for living rooms! They are still interesting but feel organic and relaxing! I also love these picks because they feel classic and timeless. Art with timeless scenes or with timeless objects/animals like boats or dogs or horses always add an “old-money” flair as well.
